Naturalized_Retention_Basin_2010

In 2007 Egg Harbor Township was chosen as one of five communities in the state to be part of a pilot program for water conservation in conjunction with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection and Rutgers University.
In the summer of 2010 we are planted a demonstration naturalized retention basin at Veteran's Park in 2010.  Students from Eagle Academy pitched in.

Right after the initial planting the state was hit with a summer of record high temperatures and little rain.  Many of the shrubs succumbed to the heat and were replanted in the fall.
Once the basin has stabilized it will be used for demonstration purposes for other retention basins
Veteran's Park was chosen because of its easy accessibility and visibility to the community
